Happy World Poetry Day!

Here at MysteryVibe we have come up with some deliciously sensual poetry for you to read late at night.

1. Rupi Kaur

We just adore Indian-Canadian Instapoet, Rupi Kaur, whose two renowned books Milk and Honey and The Sun and Her Flowers are utterly arousing to the senses. She elegantly paints pictures with her words (and sketches) that are so real and poignant. We love them all so much, we couldn’t share just one. So, here’s our favourite top three sensual poems from her Instagram, & make sure you follow her!

2. Tyler Kent White

Author of Songs With Our Eyes Closed, beautifully writes from a male perspective in today’s society, how love and sensuality are just as complex and true to a man’s emotional spectrum. This poem in particular worships women’s exquisiteness, which is just sexy as f*** to be honest.

3. Marisa Crane

Using an old school typewriter, the editor of Collective Unrest Lit Magazine, writes with “crass, strangely elegant, and beautifully broken” wording. My Favourite Nightcap is beautifully about #girlswhokissgirls.

4. Adrienne Rich

Queer Jewish poet Adrienne Rich is a feminist icon of the 20th century. Her influential works define women’s power and defy patriarchal heteronormativity. Our favourite has to be The Floating Poem, Unnumbered, for its deliciously tantalising imagery of women loving women.

5. Vanessa Kisuule

Promoting her spoken-word show SEXY on Gal-Dem – an online magazine written by women of colour – Vanessa Kisuule discusses what “sexy” means to her as a black female performer based in Bristol. She is an award-winning young poet and we just loved her poem Sex Education Class from her first book Joyriding the Storm. Here, she relays her experiences of growing up in a white patriarchal education system that devalues the importance of a decent sex education!

6. Gabe Moses

U.S. Slam Poetry contender Gabe Moses became internet famous with their poem How To Make Love To a Trans Person. Throwing gender into a blender, Moses thoughtfully and sensually challenges what sex is, specifically for Trans people. We were seduced by the idea of forming new erotic terms and aroused by the salacious description of queer love making.

7. E. E. Cummings

Early 20th century poet, Edward Estlin Cummings, was famously known for his satirical, avant-garde style of writing. Many of his poems held romantic themes, celebrating love and sex. XVII Lady especially turned us on…without even touching us!
