What is Shark Week Sheets and how did you get into it?

Shark Week Sheets are chic period sex protection for your bedding. Chic because they come in different patterns so they look like they are a part of your bedding.

I choose patterns not for just how fun and great they look, but also to help conceal our red visitor. Shark Week Sheets keep your bed spotless and are disposable. They’re made with soft, quilted cotton and multiple layers of dry tech mesh, so they’re leak-proof and crinkle-proof.

They’re also easy to use: Just peel the slip of paper off Shark Week Sheets’ sticky backing, then smooth one over your fitted sheet. You’ll forget it’s there, aside from the cute patterns. When you’re done with them, you can just peel them off your fitted sheet and throw them away!

After selling Totes Juices, my organic cold-pressed juice shop in LA, I moved in with my boyfriend in Brooklyn, NY. We don’t have a washer and dryer in our apartment, and I always dreaded taking our period towel and stained sheets to the laundromat; it always looked like a crime scene. I never liked the period towel because it didn’t protect our sheets. So, I wanted to solve that problem.

What was your sex education like growing up?

My sex education all came from elementary school in Sex Ed when I was in the 5th grade. Girls went into one room and boys went into the other room. It was two weeks of “sex education”. Pretty pathetic.

When it comes to sex, what’s the one thing you wish everyone knew?

It’s all about being sex and period positive. With everything that men and women are exposed to from a young age there is barely anything that shows positive relationships, which is what most people seek in life. A lot of people look to porn for how you’re supposed to have sex, or how you’re supposed to be intimate with somebody. Talking honestly about sex with your partner can increase comfort, intimacy and pleasure. I want people to at least give period sex a chance. It can be a more intimate and connected experience; something beautiful. It shouldn’t be seen as something dirty or taboo.

What’s the biggest surprise you’ve had since starting to work in sextech?

The biggest surprise was becoming aware and being a part of a “Menstrual Movement” that I had no idea was taking place. All I had set out to do was solve the problem of period stained sheets; regardless how those stains got there. However, I have come to realise there are unsurprisingly bigger problems to solve, even aside from the stigma associated with periods and period sex.

What is your vision for the future of your company?

I envision Shark Week Sheets being a part of all life stages of anyone who menstruates. I also want to provide all prisons with Shark Week Sheets.

Do you have any practical tips that someone could use tonight to enhance their pleasure?

Yes! Go have period sex! You’ll have one of the best orgasms you’ve ever experienced; not to mention the most intimate time with your partner.
